Found: Drugstore Makeup That's Just as Good as Department Store Products

Love a good bargainWho doesn't?! But when it comes to makeup, I normally don't like to cheap out. These products are going on my faceafter all, which I kinda like and want to keep looking good. So I'm not about to slap any old dollar store foundation or blush on -- I need a little reassurance that the discount makeup I try is still high quality. Especially when I already know there are these majorly bad drugstore products out there (shudder).

That's why I challenged a few makeup experts to show me cheapie products that are just as good as my usual splurge makeup. Turns out, there's a slew of drugstore finds that are near-identical matches for makeup counter bestsellers -- which means you can save some major cash without any risks to your complexion.

I can't say I won't ever again succumb to luxury products that are worth every penny, but at least I'll have some cash saved up because I'll be buying off the list below.

The splurge: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, $59
The bargain: CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation, $10
Money saved: $49
Why you'll love it: "As much as I love the amazing Armani foundation, CoverGirl's NatureLuxe Silk Foundation is just as good," says Miami-based makeup artist Marissa Nemes. "It has similar benefits while adding sun protection, and its oil free/paraben free formula is lightweight, smoothes out imperfections, and leaves the skin looking flawless and polished."

What Beauty Flaws Bother You the Least?

By Alexandra Owens,
 Allure Magazine

Baby-faced supermodel (and Orlando Bloom-thief) Miranda Kerr may have popped out a baby herself just seven months ago, but she's already hitting the runway again—modeling bathing suits, no less.

But before we started experiencing a real hate on, we ran across a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, in which Kerr stated that she "didn't care" if she got stretch marks. "I did yoga during the whole pregnancy but, honestly, I totally gave my body over," she told the paper. "I didn't care if I got stretch marks, I didn't care if I didn't get back into shape. My main focus was to have a healthy child and it didn't matter to me if I could model or not."

Mind you, she didn't actually get any unsightly red marks on her midsection (in case there was any doubt left that she has killer genes). But this kind of self-acceptance, even if theoretical, is pretty refreshing. I guess my equivalent would be the fact that my freckles don't really bother me. There are times when they make me feel like a six-year-old, but mostly they remind me of sun-kissed summer vacations, and I don't do anything to combat or hide them. All this got me wondering what kind of supposed imperfections that other Allure staff members are willing to let slide— even on a good day:

"I never use self-tanner. I've always had pale skin—if by pale you mean pasty—but I've had to many sticky instances of Jersey Shore-style orange fake tans to try again. I admire celebs with golden skin like Kim Kardashian, but I don't have the patience to spray chemical goop all over my body myself." — Renee Trilivas, editorial assistant

"I don't really get too worked up about frizz, especially in the summer. Of course, it helps that my hair is naturally pretty straight—but if you worry about every little thing, it would drive you crazy." —Sarah Van Boven, deputy editor/features director

"I let go of having perfect nails. Because I type so much, I keep them short and as much as I LOVE nail color (I have a fridge full of nail polish), the idea of sitting in a chair for 30 minutes makes me nuts! I'd much rather run errands, go to brunch, shop, sleep (!), etc. than sit around having someone paint my nails and trim my cuticles. Truth be told, it really is the lowest priority on my beauty regime. Does anyone besides me even notice? Highly unlikely." — Cindy Augustine, freelance producer

Complete Information about Hepatitis B

Hepatitis is a liver disease which is generally caused by a virus, while it also can be caused by overuse of alcohol or other toxins for longer period of time.

There are several different kinds of hepatitis and hepatitis B is a kind that can move from person to person through blood and other physical fluids. Moreover, sharing needles while taking drug or creating tattoos and sexual intercourse are another reason of getting it transmitted. Also, a pregnant woman can pass hepatitis B to her baby and it never spreads through an object such as a public toilet seat.

Symptoms of Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B has symptoms like other viral infections like the flu – for example, loss of appetite, tiredness, nausea, mild fever, vomiting and abdominal pain or tenderness underneath the right ribcage where the liver is located.

Hepatitis B also can cause jaundice, which turns the skin yellow and the whites of the eyes, and also may cause the urine to come out brownish.

How long until symptoms show?

Someone who has been contacted to hepatitis B may have its symptoms 1 to 4 months afterward. Some people with hepatitis B don't perceive symptoms until the situation become quite severe. Some may have few or no symptoms at all, but even someone who doesn't see any symptoms can still convey the disease to others.

What can occur with Hepatitis B?

Hepatitis B can be extremely dangerous to a person's health, resulting to liver damage and an augmented risk of liver cancer. Around 90% of the to be born babies will have the hepatitis B virus from their mother unless they receive a particular immune injection and the initial dose of hepatitis B vaccine during birth.

How Can Hepatitis B be prevented?

Since hepatitis B can effortlessly be transmitted through blood and other body fluids, it may be prevented by:

• Refraining from all sorts of sex such as vaginal, oral or anal sex.
• Always using condoms for all kinds of sexual intercourse.
• Avoiding touch with an infected individual's blood.
• Not taking intravenous drugs or sharing a drug paraphernalia.
• Not sharing toothbrushes or razors.

Sometimes tattoo parlors reuse needles without sterilizing them properly, so be sure to investigate and choose tattoo and piercing sources carefully.

To help stopping the spread of hepatitis B, it is advised by health care professionals to wear gloves at all times when you come in contact with body fluids or blood, and getting immunized against the fatal hepatitis B virus.

The hepatitis B vaccine is given as a sequence of three shots over a period of 6 months. Newborn babies in USA now regularly receive this immunization series. Also, teens who visit their health care provider for annual exams are also likely to be prescribed the hepatitis B vaccine if they haven't had it already.

If someone has been lately exposed to the hepatitis B virus, the doctor may advise a shot of immune globulin that contains antibodies against the virus to give a try to prevent the patient from coming down with the dangerous disease. This is why, it's especially significant to see a doctor fast after any possible contact to the virus.

How Can Hepatitis B be treated?

If you consider you may have hepatitis B virus or if you have been close with someone who may contain hepatitis B, you have to see a doctor or gynecologist. The doctor will do blood examinations, and if an analysis of hepatitis B is ready, you may also be treated with medications to help fight it.

Bloodshot eyes or conjunctivitis refers to a redness of the conjunctiva, a thin transparent red membrane covering the outer eye. Also it is known as having 'sore eyes' which is quite common among many eye diseases and spreads from one person another through direct contact. Unhealthy living, overcrowding and dirty surroundings can cause this eye illness which is very much irritating for the patients and the other people around as well.

Symptoms of Conjunctivitis: The main symptom of this disease is inflamed eyeball and reddish bottom of the eyelids. Initially, the eye gets red and itchy, and later a watery secretion may be experienced as well. In more severe cases, pus formation may occur which dries up when you sleep, making the eyelashes stick together.

Causes of Conjunctivitis: Eyestrain and bacterial or virus infections are few of the major causes of conjunctivitis. Continuous work under synthetic light and extreme use of eyes in one way or another contribute towards this eye disease. Moreover, general toxemia can lead to a catarrhal condition of the eye system due to faulty lifestyle and dietetic errors. Blood Pressure Ins and Outs

Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood in the arteries as the heart pumps it around the body. Blood pressure does not stay the same all the time – it changes to meet your body's needs. If blood pressure remains high, it can lead to serious problems like a heart attack, stroke, heart failure or kidney disease.

Measuring Blood Pressure

Blood pressure is usually measured by an instrument called a sphygmomanometer. It is best to measure blood pressure when you are relaxed and sitting or lying down.

Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers, such as 120/80. The larger number indicates the pressure in the arteries as the heart squeezes out blood during each beat. It is called the systolic blood pressure. The lower number indicates the pressure as the heart relaxes before the next beat. It is called the diastolic blood pressure.

High Blood Pressure

There is no ideal blood pressure reading. The following figures for clinic blood pressures can be used as a guide:

* Normal blood pressure: less than 120/80
* High/Normal: between 120/80 and 140/90
* High: equal to or more than 140/90
* Very high: equal to or more than 180/110

High blood pressure usually does not give warning signs. You can have high blood pressure and feel perfectly well. The only way to find out if your blood pressure is high is by having it checked regularly.

Controlling High Blood Pressure

If blood pressure remains high it can lead to serious problems. You will be more at risk of these problems if you smoke, are overweight, are physically inactive, have diabetes, have high blood cholesterol, are socially isolated and/or suffer from depression.

Lifestyle is very important to help to control high blood pressure and its associated risks. There are ways you can help to control or prevent high blood pressure. Medications may also be needed and, in some instances, a number of medications may be required long term. For some patient, Effexor XR seems to be a good medication for controlling or even lowering their high blood pressure level.

Have your blood pressure checked regularly

If your blood pressure is normal and you have no personal or family history of high blood pressure, a check every two years and during routine visits to your doctor is recommended. If your blood pressure is high-normal (or higher) or you have a personal or family history of high blood pressure, stroke or heart attack, it is best to have it checked more frequently. Be advised by your doctor.

Be active every day

Establish or maintain at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on five or more days each week (150 minutes per week minimum). This can be accumulated in smaller bouts of 10 minutes or longer, if this is more convenient. Moderate intensity physical activity is activity that causes a moderate noticeable increase in depth and rate of breathing while still being able to whistle or talk comfortably. This may include brisk walking, cycling, low-paced swimming or anything that you enjoy that requires the use of your major muscle groups. Some types of exercises, such as lifting heavy weights, should be avoided if you have high blood pressure. Check with your doctor before starting a new activity or increasing your level or intensity. Be active safely: build up your levels of activity gradually.

Enjoy Healthy Eating

Healthy eating is particularly important in controlling high blood pressure and reducing your risk of heart disease. Enjoying a variety of foods from the different food groups is the key to healthy eating.

Healthy eating is about choosing mainly plant-based foods such as vegetables, fruits and legumes (dried peas, dried beans and lentils); wholegrain bread and cereals; moderate amounts of lean meats, poultry, fish and reduced fat dairy products; and moderate amounts of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated oils and fats.

Reducing salt intake can also help control high blood pressure or help avoid high blood pressure altogether. To reduce salt intake, eat plenty of vegetables, fruit and legumes; choose low salt wholegrain bread and cereals; avoid seasonings, processed foods and takeaway foods (which are high in salt); and avoid adding salt to cooking or at the table.

Alcoholic Hepatitis Learn more about the Hepatitis Disease Brought by Alcohol

For many decades, the liver problems have been connected to the excessive drinking of alcohol. Among the serious ailments that have been connected to the drinking habits include the hepatitis. But the connection between excessive drinking and the alcoholic hepatitis is very intricate. The fact of the matter is that most people who drink excessively have a lower percentage of contracting alcoholic hepatitis. This only means that those who drink rarely also have a chance of contracting the alcoholic hepatitis.

Ones a person has contracted the alcoholic hepatitis, this can be cured through avoiding drinking. But this is not always the case as some of the alcoholic hepatitis is known to continue eating up the liver. When this is so, the alcoholic hepatitis can easily lead to liver cirrhosis which would later result to the failure of the liver if one does not stop drinking immediately. If an alcoholic addict does not stop his drinking, this could be deadly.

From the recent research, results have come out to educate individuals on how and why alcoholic hepatitis takes place. Despite carrying out all these researches, no treatment for the alcoholic hepatitis has been found yet. The only requirement for those suffering from alcoholic hepatitis is abstaining from alcohol and other products that can damage the liver.

When the liver has been completely damaged that has led to its failure, the only option that will be left will be a liver transplant. But this has not been an easy task. For one, it is very difficult to find a donor. The other problem that is very sensitive is that, when you find a donor, your blood must always much with his/hers.

Signs and symptoms of alcoholic hepatitis

• Loss of appetite
• Queasiness and vomiting (sometimes vomiting blood)
• Abdominal pains and tenderness
• The yellowing of the skin and whitening of the eyes
• Constant fevers
• Swelling of the stomach (due to build up of fluids)
• Mental confusion
• Fatigue

This does not mean that they are the only symptoms but they will, depend on the extent of the malady. The condition will continue worsening if the person does not abstain from alcohol.

Causes of alcoholic hepatitis

The liver is one of the vital organs in the body. It is known to perform most of the working as compared to other vital organs. Among the functions that are performed by the liver include

• Dispensation of nutrients
• Production of bile
• Production of blood clotting reagents
• Elimination of harmful from the blood system.

During the break down of the alcohol, chemical substances are produced. These chemicals trigger inflammation which destroys the liver. At times these deposits that form on the liver thus they tend to substitute the healthy liver tissues which in turn alter the functioning of the liver.

This is what is referred to as the liver cirrhosis and it is the last stage of alcoholic liver disease that is very fatal.

Cantaloupe

According to the FDA, 3.5 percent of domestically grown cantaloupe carries Salmonella and Shigella, and same for 7 percent of the imported variety. When you bring home a cantaloupe, scrub the exterior with a mild dishwashing liquid for 15 to 30 seconds under running water and use a scrub brush dedicated solely to cleaning produce (to avoid cross-contamination). The slice and enjoy. Or devour, as the case may be.

Causes and Remedies of Bad Breath

Bad breath or halitosis is a common problem among mass people. But most of them are unaware about the causes of bad breath and the ways of getting rid of it. However, bad breath can easily be avoided by knowing the reasons and acting accordingly.

There are three possible reasons of bad breath which you must keep in mind to avoid embarrassing situations like annoying your friends, family, coworkers and most importantly, your partner.

Eating Smelly Foods: In order to keep your breath fresh and lively, avoid aromatic foods such as garlic, peanut butter, fish, onions and others that can leave a strong smell on your breath. However, this kind of bad breath is just temporary unless you have other dental problems. Keep your diet balanced with more fresh vegetables and fruits which will help a lot to overcome a bad breath situation.

Poor Oral Hygiene: In order to avoid a bad breath condition, it is very much essential to flossing, brushing and using mouthwash in a regular manner. Aside from keeping bad breath away from your mouth, good oral hygiene is also significant for preventing many severe dental problems and keeping a healthy dental condition.

A Dental Condition: There are various dental diseases such as oral cancer, gum disease, cavities and bacterial attack on the tongue surface may result in irritating bad breath. Always try to prevent these conditions before they take place since these diseases cannot be treated without the help of a professional dentist.

Chewing gum is very much helpful for lessening the strength of bad breath by keeping a moist condition inside the mouth. Additionally, there are many people who find relief by using mouthwashes, toothpaste and other available oral hygiene products that are prepared particularly to combat unrelenting halitosis.

In a nutshell, properly brushing and flossing the teeth including the tongue and gargling with active mouthwash after every meal along with regular specialized cleanings will put a stop to the most invasive causes of bad breath.
